Voter Registration
To be qualified to be a voter in New York State you must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen
- Be 18-years-old (you may pre-register at 16 or 17, but cannot vote until you are 18);
- Not be in prison for a felony conviction;
- Not claim the right to vote elsewhere;
- Not found to be incompetent by a court.

Ways to Register
- New Voters or Voters making a change to their Name, Address or Party can now use NYS Online Voter Portal (New as of 5/31/2023)
- Voter Changes can made via the DMV portal - you will need to provide information from your NYS LIcense , Permit or Non-Driver ID
- Request a voter registration form in the mail or by emailing boecommissioners@madisoncounty.ny.gov or (315) 366-2231. Complete and mail the form to the appropriate Board of Elections listed on the back of the form. We can not accept registration forms via email.
- Complete this form Voter Registration Form (8.5 inches by 11 inches) and mail or drop off to your local NYS Board of Elections.
