Asbestos Requirements

The Madison County Landfill DOES NOT accept friable asbestos containing material at their facilities. Friable materials are defined as a material that when dry, can be crumbled, pulverized, or reduced to powder by hand pressure, or is capable of being released into the air by hand pressure. Examples of friable asbestos materials include pipe insulation, tank insulation, boiler insulation, wall/ceiling plaster, textured ceiling coatings, gypsum board and joint compound system, etc.

The Madison County Landfill DOES accept non-friable asbestos containing material at their landfill. Examples of non-friable asbestos materials include: built-up roofing, floor tiles, mastics/glues, roof shingles, caulk, roof tar, etc.
