Town of Smithfield

* On Tuesday April 28th from 10 am to 12 noon, The Town of Smithfield and Madison County Emergency Management will be hosting a hand sanitizer distribution for Town of Smithfield residents via a drive through distribution at the Town of Smithfield Highway Garage. Residents should stay in their car and wear a face covering. Residents will receive a small bag with a few bottles of hand sanitizer for their personal use as they drive through the line. Staff will also be wearing face coverings. We may also have cloth face coverings to distribute as well if people need them (they are not yet shipped but we anticipate having them by Tuesday).

Smithfield was organized March 13, 1807, Being set off from Cazenovia. It derives its name from Peter Smith, who at the time of the organization was owner of all the land contained in the town, expect a few farms which he had sold to settlers and a strip one mile wide across the northern end. Peter SMITH born near Tappan, Rockland County., NY, was founder of Smithfield.
Monthly Town Board Meeting is held the second Tuesday of each month at 7 PM.
