Parenting Skills Classes

Parenting skills classes are offered by Madison County Department of Social Services twice a year. These classes are held in March and September and consist of 12-week sessions. At this time, classes are held on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.

This parenting program incorporates the use of systematic training for effective parenting and the Cornell Cooperative Extension Parenting Skills Program.

Topics

Topics covered are the four goals of misbehavior, the five main parenting skills, the three Ms of parenting, the ILAC shield, self-esteem choices, respecting feelings, self-control and many other skills useful to healthy parenting.
