Lead Poisoning Prevention

Lead poisoning is 100% preventable.

Our Preventive Health and Environmental Health staff work together to help residents reduce their lead exposure. Staff conduct home visits for children with elevated blood lead levels to help identify the source of lead poisoning.

Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program

  • Educate the community about lead poisoning prevention strategies
  • Provide lead screening for uninsured and underinsured children up to 6 years of age
  • Provide follow-up services for children with lead poisoning

Environmental Health Lead Program

  • Evaluate and provide education on lead hazards in homes
  • Provide guidance on how to fix or mitigate a lead problem in your home
