Starting July 8th, Madison County residents can stop by the Madison County Health Department between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. to pick up a free water-soluble Mosquito larvae control pouches. Using mosquito larvae control products around your home and yard may help combat mosquito larvae in contained standing water and lower mosquito populations.
Mosquito larvae control products are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and while supplies last. The limit is one package per household. Consider calling ahead for availability at 315-366-2526.
“Mosquitos are definitely unwanted outdoor pests this time of year, and they can also spread viruses to people and some animals,” said Madison County’s Environmental Health Director Geoffrey Snyder. “Taking steps to control mosquito populations around the home and yard will help improve your outdoor enjoyment this summer.”
The in-water mosquito larvae control products are designed for outdoor use in contained standing water where mosquitos breed. Residents receiving a package must follow all label directions.
You can also take these steps to combat mosquito populations by getting rid of standing water around the homes and property:
