[ARCHIVED] Food Safety Recalls

Food Safety Recall Information

May 2022 Food Safety Recall and Outbreaks Announcements

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

A foodborne outbreak occurs when two or more people get the same illness from the same contaminated food or drink. Actions, like seeking treatment or recalling a product may be recommended from investigations to prevent more people from getting sick.

A food recall is when a food producer takes a product off the market because there is reason to believe that it may cause consumers to become ill due to an infectious germ, foreign object, or major allergen not on the product label.

Actions to take:

If a notice matches the details on the food product you have, do not open or consume the product. Instead:

  • Return the product to the place of purchase for a refund.
  • Dispose of the product following the instructions provided in the recall notice to make sure no one will consume it.
  • Contact your healthcare provider if you think you may have symptoms of illness after eating an affected food product.
