[ARCHIVED] Madison County Celebrates World Breastfeeding Week

World Breastfeeding Week

Join the Madison County Healthy Start Partnership for a World Breastfeeding Week celebration on Friday, August 5 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Allen Park on Broad Street in Oneida! This special event will bring awareness about the benefits of and show community support for breastfeeding. Anyone willing to help support breastfeeding within our community is welcome to attend!

Oneida Health’s Breastfeeding Connections baby weigh station will be held in the pavilion instead of its usual location on Seneca Street in Oneida for this event. Healthy Families, Early Head Start, and the Childcare Council of CCE will be offering fun backyard activities for children. There will also be mini chair massages, light refreshments, and many other community agencies promoting their services for families. A photographer will be available to take mom and baby photos, which can serve as a keepsake. If you’d like your photo taken, it is recommended to wear a white top.

There will also be lots of giveaways, including free diapers and Baby Bundles while supplies last. Be sure to stay for the door prize drawing at the close of the event.

The benefits of breastfeeding are priceless. The support from family, friends, co-workers, and the community makes all the difference in a mother’s decision to start and continue to breastfeed. With your help, we can show that support on August 5.

For more information on the event or where people can get breastfeeding support, call the Madison County Health Department at 315-366-2848 or visit https://www.madisoncounty.ny.gov/1497/Maternal-Child-Health-Program
