The Air Quality today will continue to be unhealthy. Due to the ongoing wildfires in Canada, there are times where the Air Quality may be worse than others.
Please take this advisory seriously, especially those who have pre-existing respiratory conditions.
To ensure the health of our community, the Madison County Public Health recommends:
- Limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects; especially those individuals who may have respiratory and/or heart conditions.
- Keep windows and doors closed to prevent smoke from entering your home. Use air purifiers or air conditioning units with high-efficiency filters to improve indoor air quality if possible. If you aren't sure if your AC has a dust filter or it is a window unit, better to keep the A/C off and windows closed. Thankfully it has not been too hot.
- If you experience symptoms of illness such as persistent coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain, or wheezing, contact your healthcare provider.
- Check your local air quality reports and recommendations throughout the day at www.airnow.gov
