Foster Care is the temporary service provided to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and youth while in out-of-home care.

Foster homes are needed for all ages, but especially for teens and sibling groups.

Help Us Help Children and Families In Our Community

You can apply to become a foster parent if you . . .

  • Can make room in your home and heart for a child or children who need safe, temporary care
  • Are married, single, or living with a partner
  • Are in good health
  • Are at least 21 years old


Services provided to foster parents by the Department of Social Services include . . .

  • Room and board payments for the care of the child
  • Health insurance for each child
  • Clothing allowance for each child
  • Ongoing training and 24-hour emergency services
  • Regular home visits and contact with agency staff

Next class begins on September 12!

Classes run from 6pm to 9pm each Tuesday evening. If you would like information about how you can register for this program or if you would like information about foster care and adoption, please call Madison County Child and Family Services at 315-366-2548.

March 13, 2018 - 7pm


Our fall foster parent training is scheduled to begin on September 12, 2017.

Our Spring foster parent training is scheduled to begin on April 10, 2018.
