Animals, Bugs & Pests

We respond to health complaints regarding animal bites, rabid animals, pests, and other potential public health concerns. We provide education, technical assistance, and state and local codes enforcement, as appropriate. Our Environmental Health Staff:

• Investigate animal bite reports
• Offer rabies clinics for pets
• Provide education on rabies, diseases in mosquitoes and ticks, and other pests
• Collect and submit mosquitoes for disease testing to monitor and minimize the spread of mosquitoes that carry West Nile virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis
• Provide mosquito surveillance results and advisories during times of peak mosquito activity
• Work with neighborhood communities to provide outreach and education on reducing disease vector habitats and steps to minimize exposure

Report an Animal Bite

• Immediately report an animal bite to Madison County Public Health using the Animal Bite Reporting Form (PDF) and call 315-366-2526.
