Influenza (Flu)

Getting a flu shot is an important step to protect yourself, your family, and your community as flu season approaches. The flu shot is safe and does not give you the flu. Everyone age 6 months and older should get a flu shot. It is especially important for these high-risk groups:

  • Pregnant women
  • Children younger than 5 years, but especially those under 2 years old
  • People age 65 and older
  • People who have certain health conditions like asthma, diabetes, and heart disease.

Protection decreases over the course of a year, so even people who got a flu vaccine last year should get one again.
