Organ Donor Information

Thousands of people with organ failure benefit from lifesaving transplants each year because of donors. Transplanted tissue has given hundreds of thousands of people an active and renewed life.

The need for donated organs, eyes and tissue continues to grow. Today, more than 113,000 men, women and children wait for organ transplants, while an average of 18 people die each day due to a lack of available donors.

You have the power to save lives. You can join the New York State Donate Life Registry by signing the organ donor consent section when you apply for or renew your driver license or non-driver ID, or by completing the online registration at the Donate Life New York State website registration page.

You must be at least 18 years old to enroll. If you register through a DMV transaction, “ORGAN DONOR” will appear on your DMV photo ID.

Donate Life New York State is a non-profit organization comprised of organ, eye and tissue recovery organizations throughout New York State.
