School-Based Clinics

Beginning in the Spring of 2021, Madison County developed a Mental Health Task Force designed to assess and respond to the wellness needs resulting from Covid and related stressors. The needs of school-aged children were a prominent theme in all of the data gathering that was conducted. Parents, adults, teachers and students throughout the county expressed a high degree of concern and need related to the mental health needs of school-aged children in the county. Based upon this needs assessment and the level of interested expressed in expansion of mental health services, schools were contacted to explore their interested in working with Madison County in a collaborative fashion to enhance the quantity and quality of school-based mental health care. Those schools that expressed interest were also advised regarding the opportunity to partner with Madison County in the establishment of school-based social work positions that would allow employees of the Madison County Mental Health Clinic to deliver services on site at the school.
